7th CENTRAL PAY COMMISSION FINALISATION OF TERMS OF REFERENCE GOVERNMENT INVITED JCM STAFF SIDE FOR DISCUSSION ON 24.10.2013

Secretary, Department of Personnel & Training will hold discussion with JCM National Council, Staff Side today (24.10.2013) at 3 PM. Meeting of the Staff side will be held at 11 AM to formulate the staff side approach. Confederation available National Secretariat members met on 23.10.2013 in the presence of Com. S. K. Vyas and finalized the draft terms of reference of Confederation. Details will be published after the meeting with Secretary, DOP&T.

Formation of Diamond Jubilee Celebration Committee

          A meeting of the 156-member Diamond Jubilee Celebration Committee of the Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, was held at Port Blair today (20.10.2013) evening. Shri TS Sreekumar, Secretary, Diamond Jubilee Celebration Committee presented a blue-print of the programme proposed to be conducted during 2013 and 2014 as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebration of the Association. The inaugural function of the Diamond Jubilee celebration will be held during November, 2013 at Port Blair.  Sports & Games competitions, publishing a souvenir, Seminars, Photo Exhibition, drawing and painting competition for school children, various cultural programmes, felicitation of former leaders, etc. are the items proposed for organizing as part of the Diamond Jubilee Celebration. 

          Addressing the meeting, Shri KG Das, Patron of the Celebration Committee recalled the valiant struggles conducted by the Association during the last 60 years.   Speaking on the occasion, Shri D. Ayyappan, General Secretary of the Association explained in brief the importance of observing the Diamond Jubilee of the Association.   He said that it is an opportunity to enlighten the young generation in government service about the achievements made by the Association on various issues of government employees.  Shri B. Chandrachoodan, Chairman, Celebration Committee while addressing the meeting stressed the need to expand the trade union activities among the employees and workers.  Earlier, Shri Sadanand Rai, President of the Association welcomed the gathering.  Shri HL Prasad, Vice President proposed Vote of Thanks.

NGOs' demand immediate assistance to stranded Students & Teachers in GSSS Swadesh Nagar



The Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has demanded  rushing of  immediate assistance to  the students and teachers stranded  in the Govt. Sr. Secondary  School, Swadesh Nagar, Middle Andaman.  In a letter sent to the Chief Secretary, Andaman and Nicobar Administration,  Shri D. Ayyappan, General Secretary  of the Association  said that he has received telephonic information from Middle Andaman that about 200 students and all the teachers of  Govt. Sr. Secondary School, Swadesh Nagar, Middle Andaman are stranded  in the  school building today (08.10.2013)  as they are unable to go out due to heavy rain and  flood in  the  Billiground area.   He has also informed the Cheif Secretary that the entire ATR  from Billiground to CFO Nallah are heavily flooded and vehicular traffic came to a halt. 

          The Association informed the Chief Secretary that the students and teachers who are in the school building from 8 a.m. today remain without food and water.  Shri Ayyappan informed the Chief Secretary that  he has spoken to the teachers in the said school over telephone and they asked him  to request the Administration to extend necessary assistance to the students and teachers in the said school.The Association  has requested the Chief Secretary  to direct the DistrictAdministration of North and Middle Andaman to rush necessary assistance to the said school and to ensure that all the students  returned to their homes today itself.   He further requested the Chief Secretary to  direct the North and Middle Andaman District Administration to provide all other assistance including food and water to the stranded students and teachers.

International Action Day observed in the Islands



At the call of the World Federation of Trade Unions, the Andaman and Nicobar State Committee of Centre of Indian Trade Unions and Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, A & N Islands jointly observed 3rd October, 2013 as International Action Day.  A meeting of workers and employees was held at Port Blair today (03.10.2013) to observe the Day.   The WFTU has called upon the working people in all the continents to observe 3rd October as International Day of Action.  Like last year, this year too, the theme of the International Action Day was   “Food, Water, Education, Health and Housing for all for decent life.”

Addressing the meeting Shri B. Chandrachoodan, General Secretary, CITU State Committee  emphasized the need to  fight for the  above  basic  rights to all the working people in the country.  Shri Sadanand Rai, President and Shri HL Prasad Vice President of the Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association elaborately explained the theme for this year’s International Action Day.   Shri SB Chatterjee  who presided over the programme   called upon the  working people to  strengthen the  working class unity in the country.   Addressing the meeting, Shri D. Ayyappan, General Secretary of the Non-Gazetted Govt Officers’ Association demanded immediate settlement of the 15-point charter of demands submitted to the central government by the Confederation of Central Govt. Employees & Workers, New Delhi and on which the government employees and workers are on continuous agitation during the last one year.    A large number of government employees and workers from Port Blair area attended the meeting. 

NGOs' Association demands merger of 50% DA with pay

A meeting of the Central Secretariat of the Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association was held today (02.10.2013) at Crusade House, Phoenix Bay, Port Blair. The meeting reviewed the functioning of the Association.  The situation after the announcement of the decision of the central government to set up the 7th Central Pay Commission was also reviewed by the meeting.   The meeting through a resolution demanded that the central government should immediately take a decision on the demand of the Confederation of Central Govt. Employees & Workers, New Delhi, to merge 50% DA with Pay with effect from 1st January, 2011. The meeting noted that after the implementation of both the 4th and 5th Central Pay Commission recommendations, the DA when it reached 50% was merged with Pay. However, the central government has not been considering the demand of the employees’ organizations to merge 50% of DA with pay even though the DA reached 50% on 1st January, 2011.  Shri D. Ayyappan, General Secretary spoke in the meeting while Shri Sadanand Rai, President presided over the meeting.
