NGOs' demand immediate publication of result of written exam for the Group C posts

News Item
The Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, Andaman and Nicobar Islands  has demanded  immediate publication of the result of  written examination conducted  by the Administration with the help of  Staff Selection Commission for  recruitment to the  Group C posts of  Peon, Chowkidar, Mazdoors, Computer Attendants, etc.   In a letter sent to the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration, Shri D. Ayyappan, General Secretary of the Association   said that a grave situation prevails in some of the departments under the Administration due to non-filling up of these Group C posts. The Association stated that the A & N Administration had taken a decision to fill up these posts in a centralized way by conducting a common written test for all the vacant posts in different departments under it.  Accordingly, the Administration,   with the help of Staff Selection Commission, New Delhi, had conducted a written examination on 5th February, 2012.  Thousands of local youths had appeared for the said written examination.  Even after a lapse of 1 ½ years, the result of the said written examination has not been declared by the authorities.

It is ironical that while thousands of unemployed youths are waiting for a job, hundreds of posts are lying vacant in different departments under the Administration. Expressing his concern over the difficulties being faced by the poor candidates, Shri D. Ayyappan said that the candidates who appeared in the said written examination are running from pillar to posts to know their position in the examination.   The Administration is keeping silent over the issue which leads to suspicion among these candidates, the Association told the Chief Secretary.

General Secretary requested the   Chief Secretary to intervene in the matter and direct the authorities concerned to ensure that the results of the above written examination is declared without any further loss of time.
