The
Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, Andaman and Nicobar Islands drew the attention
of the A & N Administration towards various issues on quarter allotment and
upkeeping of General Pool residential accommodations under the Administration.
Shri T.S. Sreekumar, General Secretary of the Association, in a letter
addressed to the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration has pointed out the
difficulties being faced by govt. employees working under A & N
Administration in getting a govt. residential accommodation even after serving
30 to 35 years. Highlighting various difficulties being faced by govt.
employees, he brought several points to the notice of Chief Secretary which
includes (i) Re-pooling of large number of Type II, III & IV quarters
transferred earlier to Medical College in a non-transparent way (ii)
Re-construction/renovation of all dilapidated General Pool accommodations at
Junglighat, Delanipur, Mohanpura, Deen Street etc. (iii) Against demolition of
govt. quarters and diversion of the land for other purpose (iv) Cancellation of
allotment of General Pool accommodation to Central agencies, autonomous bodies etc.,
and other agencies (v) Simplification the quarter allotment process and (vi)
Timely repairing of all govt. quarters of South Andaman area & outstations.
